After days of trying to be creative, I decided to sell-out and just go with "Team Alli" as my team name for the Crohn's and Colitis walk this summer. Most of the creative titles I came up with had to do with something I'm uncomfortable with such as bodily functions, or too political (For a second, I thought we could be the G.O.P. the Grand Old Potty. Funny, I know right! But one, I don't like the word potty and two, I think there will be too many democrats there that might not appreciate that...) Hence, Team Alli.
Anyway, now that I have my team up and running, I have to start doing something I hate: Fundraising. Asking people for money is probably in my top ten least favorite things to do, ever. I've done a lot of fundraising before for things like IU Dance Marathon and other philanthropies and such. I mean don't get me wrong, one of the greatest feelings in the world is knowing what good you're causing and seeing the grand total that you've raised. I just HATE asking for money. If I could donate it all myself and not have to bother anyone else, I would. In a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I don't have endless amounts of money at my disposal.
I need to get creative. I'm going to try and do a bunch of different "fun things" and try and get some percentage nights and things out of the ordinary so I'm not just asking people for money. (Which I'll still probably do...) I really wanna try and make a difference. This is one that really hits home for me, it's a disease I've been dealing with for as long as I can remember. I really hope we can make it better for everyone else.
On another note, I'm really excited because I'm gonna try and find something fun to unify my team. Like matching rage hats or headbands or something so we can be awesome together. I'm really excited for everything to be getting underway. I'm starting to get nervous about how quickly January went by. I'm starting to worry this is going to be a much bigger job than I realized but as long as I stay motivated and positive, it should be fine. I strive under pressure anyways...
See Ya...
Alli
